The Regulations on Registration and Accreditation of Health Research Ethics Committees, Research Institutions, and Health Researchers are mandated by the National Health Research Authority (NHRA) in Zambia. These regulations require all entities and individuals involved in health research to register with and be accredited by the NHRA to ensure compliance with national standards. The process involves an application, payment of fees, and an assessment of the applicant's capacity. Registration Who needs to register: Any organization, public or private, that conducts health research in Zambia, including universities. Health Researchers: All individuals conducting health research, including PhD and Master's students. Undergraduate students are exempt if they conduct research under a registered supervisor, but must register for non-academic research. Research Ethics Committees (RECs/IRBs): Any organization or committee that intends to review health research protocols and meets the criteria outlined in the National Health Research Act, 2013. Application process: Submit an application form, required documents, and pay a non-refundable fee to the NHRA. Notification: The NHRA will notify applicants in writing of acceptance or rejection within 30 days of receiving the application
